Getting Certified

R2 CERTIFICATION BODIES

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SERI, FACILITIES, AND CERTIFICATION BODIES

R2 facilities can select from any of the approved Certification Bodies (CBs). SERI does not decide audit pricing or make any recommendation on which CB to select. The certification bodies on this list are independent, third party entities.

SERI sets minimum audit requirements and the rules for auditing in the R2 Code of Practices. CBs must follow these rules in auditing, certifying, and managing clients. CBs determine the time and pricing required to fulfill the COP (Code of Practices) requirements.

Facilities may transfer to different CBs in line with the COP and contracts they sign.

CBs make all decisions about Certification. SERI does not make any decisions about an individual facility. SERI will periodically sample and review the work of CBs and use SERI’s assurance programs, the Accreditation Body, and other methods to ensure that all CBs comply with the COP and make sound evidence-based certification decisions.

Accreditation bodies (AB) are the governing authorities, either government owned or private, to provide accreditation services of any participating Certification Body (CB). They are responsible for conducting an independent evaluation of a CB against recognized international, national, and technical standards. Their primary goal is to ensure the competence of a CB to be able to provide services in an objective and independent manner. The R2v3 Program is currently accredited by three ABs – ANAB (US), JASANZ (Australia- New Zealand) and NABCB (India).

Certification Bodies utilize auditors in different parts of the world and it may be possible to use a local or regional auditor, which may help control some of the auditing costs for certification.  Use our mapping tool to see where in the world local auditors are based and the Certification Bodies that they are associated with
